Why donate?
I’m not going to lie to you. Right now the blog is being hosted on a machine rented by some friends, for whom I manage said machine and in return I get to host my little projects on it. So no, right now at least, I am not asking for money to support this blog. There will probably come a point when bigger investments may be needed, but right now it’s taken care of.

I, however, need to eat, sleep and dress, and it often happens that whatever you might consider loose change stuck around your PayPal account, I might consider lunch money or part of this month’s rent. Or, you could buy me a book, I have a really long Amazon wishlist that is filled with excellent titles. Consider it an investment in my education and a change in my lazy-ass non-reading lifestyle. Or hey, you could just send me a post card. Sometimes it’s the small things that warm you up more than any sum of money can. If you have any ideas you’d like help with or if you want to give me some work, I’d be glad to do that as well.

I can be reached at mmm.jpg.

What’s going to happen to the money I donate?
This is where more honesty comes in. I’m not planning on keeping all of the money. See, I believe in a system where we can help eachother climb the ladder towards happier times, wether it be putting some animations online for people to enjoy, giving life to dreams and ideas meant to make other peoples lives better instead of yourself, or donating money to help someone do or buy something that can make his life better in some meaningful way.

So, blabber aside, my current favorite project at the moment is Kiva, a microfinancing project based in the USA geared towards empowering individuals like me and you to contribute money to go towards medium term loans for people in developing countries. The thing that really caught me is that Kiva does not ask for donations, but for loans, so after the loan period is complete, your money is returned and you can loan it out again, or withdraw it, the choice is yours (including which business the money you donate goes to).

So, the first 25$ I get will go towards a loan to a Kiva business, the next 25$ will go into my pocket, then the next 25$ again to Kiva and so on. I’m not planning to get rich or scam anyone, I’m just appealing to you to have a look at the way I see the world and the solution I’m arguing for and, if it seems fair to you, then click the button, if it doesn’t then don’t. Hell, if you don’t trust me enough, at least make a donation to Kiva, the people there can certainly use it a lot more than me. I will send every next lump of 25$ donated to me to Kiva anyway, so all the better, more people get money. I will also post a screenshot of my Kiva portfolio so you can see that I did indeed send the loan and who I sent it to.
